I'm mounting a M4 2K on a 10.5 with a PWS system. I noticed that the front edge piston adjustment block just lines up with the rear of the M42K FH.

Question: When the can is mounted on the FH does it extend past the rear edge of the FH? If so I'm screwed as there is no clearance.

I'm waiting on the form 4 so I don't have the can in hand.....

Thanks in advance.

The M4-2k is not a reflex can.  It comes back over the flash hider but it will not reach past the shoulder on the barrel threads.

The very back edge of the flash hider/mount is not covered by the can when mounted.
Mine has a little less than 1/8" of distance from the back of the can to the back of the mount.
You should be just fine.

Thanks gents. This is exactly what I needed to know.

i don't think you need to worry about mounting the can.  I think you need to worry about field stripping the gas system.  I was looking at going with a PWS system and a 10.5" barrel with my M42000 mount.  Then by looking at some pictures, I realized that I don't think you are going to get the end-cap and piston cup out, it will hit the ratchet teeth on the mount.

If some one has the PWS system, it would be good to know how far you the parts need to come out of the gas block before you can lift them out.  I am not sure if an 11, 11.5 or 12" barrel will be needed.  I have yet to see a PWS in person.

Rifle is in for some tweaking. I'll let you know if/how the gas piston disassembles with a M42K FH once I get it back.

Just checked....It will not disassemble with the M42K FH mounted on a 10.5 bbl.  I'll have to remove the FH to clean the system.

Sorry to hear that.

I just looked at the space required to field strip the piston system without removing the AAC flash hider...it looks like you'd need about an additional 2" or a 12.5" bbl at a minimum.  Interesting to note as well that if you mount the FH on a 10.5 bbl without a crush washer you can't turn the gas system for suppressed use (or normal use). Essentially you're stuck with whatever mode you have it in. A crush washer will move it far enough away to allow switching between open or closed.

I have the M4-2K on my POF 9.25 and can stip it down without any hangups.
On the flip side, a piston setup really doesn't need the piston removed often.
