Its a Bulgarian crest on the top receiver. It should have Budapest or Steyr on the left side of the receiver and the year of production. Its 8x56r the S on it shows that its been converted. I looks like a older import.  The import mark should be on the end of the BBL.

Do you think the stock was refinished? Its in very good shape? Also I realized you can tell from the picures but its very short definitely a carbine

If you can find ammo- they are fun. But recoil is stout.

In fact they are so unpleasant to shoot I sold mine after two range trips.

It's a cut-down rifle, too, from the looks of the sights. Long rear sight leaf, front sight is on a band. Original carbines have dovetailed front sights and short leaf rear sights.

I'd say $200 is about right, I suppose, considering the Bulgarian crest, they're somewhat uncommon.

I have an Austrian Steyr carbine.  I love it.  Recoil is stout, but I'm a recoil junkie.  At one time there was a bunch of surplus ammo on the market from the late 30's.  Some of it was nazi marked, some not.  I still have a bunch, but have only shot reloads for years; 205 gn .329 bullet from Hornady in Hornady cases.  I think Hornady may still be making factory ammo for Graf's, but not sure.

They seem to be climbing in price, but very slowly.  I suspect its because it's an uncommon caliber.  You'll need the mannlicher clips to shoot it.  I gather it's hard on the extractor without a clip.

The Bulgarian crested rifles are uncommon. If the BBl has the import mark and not the receiver I would buy it at 200. Most billboard marked rifles are selling for 150-175. The best ammo is the surplus ammo.  Hornaday makes ammo but the bullets are a bit under sized. PPU also makes ammo. They make the ammo in batches, so its available for a while then it drys up till the next batch.
If you do buy the rifle and plan to shoot it you will need a clip for it. If you feed 1 round at a time with out the clip it can break the extractor. With the clip the rim goes under the extractor and with out the clip the extractor goes over the rim and the extractor can chip or break.
