I wanted a chest holster for my S&W 325 Thunder Ranch, but did not want to spend $150 for a custom leather holster, and wanted a nylon rig anyway.

After a lot of searching, I came across the
HSGI Modular Shoulder Harness. I ordered a couple and experimented. It has 3 kinds of straps. Shoulder strap, solid strap, and a quick release strap. I connected the solid and quick release straps, adjusted where they hooked on, and...

Here is a crappy cell pic of the rig on me:

Bad news, the length of the shoulder strap limits the size of chest this will fit on (although fits very well on my 48" chest).
Good news, each Modular Shoulder Harness has enough parts for two complete chest holster mounts.
Bad news, this item has been discontinued by HSGI.
Good news, they are still available and are on clearance for $33 each.

ETA: actual holster and pouches for the moon clips still enroute. Will post another photo when complete.
ETA: made link hot

Reminds me of the old "tanker" style holster for the 1911.

I've been looking for a tanker style holster for my M&P40 for a while now.  I've been carrying while i'm at home lately because of home invasions in the local area.  This will work great and allow me to attach the MOLLE compatible holster of my choice.

As soon as I can make sure i'll have a job after this week, i'll be ordering one.  OP, thanks for posting the link!

Well, Tactical Tailor makes a 90 deg and a 45 deg panel that attaches to conventional PALS webbing.  Plenty big enough for a PALS-style holster.  You'll need a vest of some sort to which to attach the panel, of course.

For a stand-alone, the HSGI looks all right, if that's what you want.

Bianchi makes various rigs and MOLLE/PALS adaptors for their very common (and well-built) holsters.  http://www.bianchi-intl.com/products/tactical-military

Spec-Ops is having a sale on their kydex-lined M.P.H. holster in ACU (which can easily be dyed, of course)  I know, for certain, that the RH version of the M.P.H. for the GI M9 pistol can be adapted (using a Harbor Freight heat gun) to accept a 5" barrel S&W 625 revolver.  I strongly suspect that the kydex liner starts out the same for all pistols, but is molded to suit particular pistol models.  IOW, it probably doesn't matter which model of pistol the kydex is originally molded to accept; it can be heated and re-shaped by the user easily enough.

Would you be so kind as to provide me a link to the mfr/vendor of your full moon clip pouches?  I'd be much obliged.

Well, it works.  But there is some irony involved.

Because so few people make a holster for a 325TR, I was forced to use an Uncle Mike's hip holster, which I had to attach to my MOLLE rig with nylon cord.  I also added an HKS dual speedloader pouch to hold my moon clips.

Final cost:
Chest rig: $33 (only used half- can use the other half for another rig, so this should only count as $17, really)
Nylon cord: $2
Uncle Mikes holster: $13
Speedloader pouch: $9
Total spent: $57

Is it as good as a custom leather rig?  Not on your life.  But it works, and works well enough for me at the moment.  I will look into replacing the Uncle Mikes holster with a custom kydex that can actually latch into the PALS channels, and find a better method to secure my reloads.  Also, the nylon straps are not the best, and the rig can slip a little, though not enough to cause concern.  If someone comes up with a made-to-order MOLLE chest holster, I will replace this rig.

But it will serve me well enough for now.

...and just to have another pic:

Notice that lowest, unused "D" ring?  I just ordered one of these rigs, and if it is anything like the similar GI units, I'm going to find it useful to attach a short strap from that "D" ring to anchor the holster/panel assy when drawing the pistol.  This is virtually a certainty if a kydex holster that has an initial draw resistance is used.  Should be easy enough to make up an adjustable strap for that.

In case you are looking, I have found that a duty belt key holder would be nearly perfect.
Here is an example.
I was thinking about it.  I have one... somewhere.  I may rework my setup and use it.

Also, I have a Bladetech holster on order for my 325TR, but it is 2 months out, so this rig is it for now.
