Three questions... 1. Will it work? 2. When will it come out? 3. How much does it cost?
|
Assuming you are referring to the Vector(SW) clones. Check this thread : MP5/40-10-357 |
|
Sorry to dissapoint you, but SW is making damn near all the parts ( including the receiver ) in that gun. It will be vector only by name, they have the sole rights to sell the guns. SW receivers, trigger packs, trunnion, bolt head, bolt carrier, etc.... you get the idea. It'll be a toss up like all SW products.... only difference is that you will probably get better customer service from vector Just wait for many many months and see what the feedback is on the guns.... then make your decision to buy one or not. That seems like the smart thing to do since they are the only people actually making the 40s 10s and 357 sigs. |

So I have been reading... I'm not saying they wont be decent guns, I'm just saying that they are SW guns. And the HK bolt head and carrier is either a bait and switch deal... or SW didn't have the parts made. I'd have to go with the bait and switch idea though because Bailey announced on his website that he ran, something like 200 rounds through the 000001 gun that Vector showed, then he shipped it out to vector for the Creek shoot. So either he doesn't have the bolt head and carriers made at all or this is a way to entice noobs into thinking this gun is more German than it really is. Honestly, most people that just shoot guns and are not in the "know" would never take the bolt out and analize it, even if they did would they be able to tell who made it ? I'm getting off topic.... the gun will probably be fine, but putting the HK stuff inside the "show" gun was pretty low and misleading IMHO. |
I am on the wait list and have been searching high and low on several boards for as much information about these as I can find. I am torn between being one of the first to buy one, and waiting to see what the problems are. This is further compounded by the fact that I'm currently overseas and won't really have a chance to wring it out (or SBR it) until I get home. From everything I've read of Vector, they really stand behind their product, and I would expect nothing less of these weapons. |
| Good point Bones, I thought that since they are being offered by Vector that Vector would be making them also. If anybody can remember SW built the first 200 V53 for Vector and they had a few problems. So I'm going to sit back and relax for a while before I get one. |
Same here... Even then, I will register it as an SBR and put HK internals in it...

Yeah, everytime something new hits the market, no matter what it is, it will have problems. It's wise to let others help vector to work out the flaws... then after they have go it streamlined, go and buy one. Shooter, ya know what's sad... that we don't have a dedicated company out there that wants to devote time to building quality MP5/94 clones. My "Why God, Why" thread I believe that there is just as much demand for MP5 clones as there is for G3 clones. They are cheaper to operate, lighter, cooler to play with, and most important.. they are HELLA SEXY ! It may be a niche market, but it is a million dollar niche market. Assuming you make a clone on HK equipment to spec and charge say 1500-2000 bucks for a true high quality MP5 clone and sell between 675-500 guns a year. That makes it a million dollar little niche. Bushmaster sells what, around 30,000 guns a year. I am just talking about a little over 500 guns here. I could probably come up with a rough projection and say that there would be more than 1-3 thousand guns sold a year if someone could make one that rivals HK quality. Just look at the RF5 group buy and the huge demand for receivers and everyone wanting to build. Plus these 40s, 10s, and 357s coming out. The demand is here, yet no one is stepping up to the plate to get the receivers made in the US. I can't understand why not. Let's say it cost 2-3 million bucks to start up such an operation, to get all the necessary HK stuff to make these guns. If you sold between 500-1000 guns a year you would pay that debt off in no time and be sitting on a cash cow. A new Bushmaster of the Hk realm. Bushmaster now makes better guns than Colt... so it could be done... no one is taking the risk though ![]() Oh well.... |
Call me paranoid, but I truly believe that the next President will be a DemocRAT (can you say Clinton Part 3?) and will do everything she or he can to ban "assault" weapons permanantly. So at this point I am in buy mode, because as long as I have the rifle (working or not) I "should" be grandfathered in and can get the rifle fixed at a later date. I am on the wait list for the MP5/40 and I will also be getting a V53, V93, XCR, P90, F2000, BW89 PDW, etc. Basically buy as much crap as I can get my grubby little hands on. |
Sounds pretty squared away. Although, don't anticipate defeat in the next election. We have them on the run. How many people really tought GWB would be re-elected? But we did it. |

if and when the mp5/40s come out... can i put a few German parts in it? Specifically a A3 stock, F/A bolt/carrier, extractor, and locking pieces. Just wondering. Do I need to worry about complaince parts. What is the limit? I think its under nine but want to be sure. I read that some SW's need a lot of attention and others are fine. I'm expecting to have to finish this gun when it comes out to make it 100%. thanks all. |
LMAO!!! I can't believe anyone would actually use a quote from Toad Bailey off his own web-site. Like I stated above,....'The Vector MP5/40 at the Creek had a factory HK bolt head and bolt carrier in it.' |
I see no quotations in my above post. I don't see the humor either... People need to know that Vector is using all SW parts. Vector may or may not be the builder of the gun, that is yet to be seen... but some people would like to know that Vector is just selling these guns and not really doing much else to them. Again, the guns may run just fine, but they are SW... and this info comes from Bailey's website. Where else would I get the facts |
