I’m looking ahead to my next major gun buy it probably won’t be for at least 6 months if not a few more. I already have 2 AR’s one is a bushmaster patrolman’s carbine with an Eotech, and the other is a Mk12 MOD 0. Now I am really interested in 2 weapons but I will only be buying 1 of them they are a MP5 clone of some type with a fake silencer for now since I can’t buy a NFA item from a dealer but don’t worry the “silencer” will come off as soon as I can legally. The other one a M1A set up for long range shooting. These are both guns that I have wanted for a long time but I’m not sure what one someday I will hopefully get both but not right now so what one should I get. Thanks for you help |

I suggest the M1A. Long range, do some research on the HK clones, some run some don't. Check in the HK forum for more info. In regards to the M1A a standard would do you right. You already have a 5.56, get the 308. If you want a 9mm carbine, you can get a nice RRA 9mm that takes uzi mags. Just a suggestion. Max |
+1 Plus...The M1A is fun to shoot at the range and can double as a good hunting rifle if you ever need a "loaner"! |

My HK94 is one of two guns I own where folks who shoot it always end up with a grin on their faces and an enthesuastic declaration of "I want one!" (The other is the AK-74) However I can't really recomend the clones since their reliability seems to be quite spotty. You could consider getting a USC and doing the UMP conversion but that process is almost as expensive as getting the HK94. You'll probably enjoy the M1A but if you are looking to make it into a precision rig I'd recomend getting a DPMS LR-308 (with A3 upper) instead. The M1A is a good battle rifle but the AR-10 type design will give you a much better level of precision for a lot less than the M1A. That's just my oppinion though. You won't regret an M1A purchase. |
x a million. my 9mm SBR (built from colt ro635 kit) is the only reason i've been able to get any trigger time behind an AR-platform this summer. |
| buy a Cohaire Arms gun for $1150, add a extractor and ejector from wwwhkparts.net, and you are good to go, i have put 2,500rds through mine without a hiccup. I got three buddies to buy them also, even the guy who didn't switch out his ejector is having no issues. |
i got two already. seriously though, the 9mm is still a viable weapon for self-defense if needed, and in an AR-platform allows me to practice on an AR. that's important since an AR would be my go-to gun. |

An MP5 clone has very limited defensive use and is basically just a toy. An M1A uses a very effective cartridge for close and long range, is good to take lots of game with, can be used in service rifle competition and makes an excellent shtf rifle. It's an extremely robust design with lots of stock and accessory options these days. It's a simple to me. Do you want a toy or real rifle? |
No problems with a SW MP5? Damn your lucky, I had a friend who bought a special weapons Mp5 and it wouldnt cycle worth shit. |
Cohaire Arms is not a Special Weapons product to my knowledge...

Dude, at least get a ceiner .22lr bolt kit for your AR. It pays for itself in a few trips to the range. 500 rds of .22lr = $12 including tax 500 rds of .223 =

Noticed you are from NE. I would guess there are places to actually an M1A at long range (not easy to do here in the shadow of D.C. - plus you gotta pay BIG $$ to use a range). Buy the M1A. You won't regret it. |
