I know they're out there I just don't know much about them.

Can someone school my on MP5 clones?  From the little I have found they can usually be had for around 1500 dollars or so.  I can't decide if I want to go with an MP5 clone or do a AR SBR in 9mm....?

Thanks for the link.

Without bothering them, do you know average price range for their mp5 clones?  You can PM if you want.

Isn't Coharie just the latest incarnation of Bobcat/SpecialWeapons/Todd R. Bailey et al? The contact info is Mesa, AZ and not surprisingly, the number is unanswered. To my knowledge there isn't any company currently manufacturing a quality HK clone in the US. I wouldn’t gamble my money on a Coharie. If I wanted a 9mm SBR, I’d Form 1 an AR lower and I could still use other caliber uppers on it. If I wanted an HK clone SBR, I’d get a Vector. If you’re not sure why, do some googling of Coharie, Bobcat, Special Weapons, and Todd R. Bailey.

Oh, and:

Yep - Bailey, Mark 4, by my count.

Done a little bit of background digging on Coharie and the facts don't lie.  Guess it's back to the drawing board.

If you're not going to be using a registered trigger pack, then you can also check out the new Turkish imported clones. I've heard they are made on HK tooling and are good quality, of course they can't accept standard Mp5 parts. But I have a Cohaire clone and like it, of course i did replace all internal parts with HK parts, but it runs perfect.

Coharie guns work most of the time, but some need some tweaking, a few need to be returned. I was very skeptical, then a friend got a K model a few years ago and stuck his sear pack into it and told me it ran like a champ. I have a CA 89 (MP5 pistol clone) and it worked out of the box, although it had a few small issues (rear of receiver too long, and tang of grip was too wide), and I replaced the plastic cocking tube support for metal, and semi bolt carrier for full auto to use my sear. It shoots well, and the 3 lug fits my suppressor snug. If you like the Turkish clones they are a good buy, just limited to semiauto only. I also had a K model assembled with a pile of parts and a SW 89K receiver, and it is a good gun, more expensive than the CA model, but less than an SP89. SBRing the MKE clone will require some US parts.
Pics shows my CA89 with added plastic SEF lower.

I have a Bobcat BW5 and I have never had a issue with it.

Coharie isn't a bad choice if you do't mind spending some cash replacing some of their junk parts with genuine HK parts. But you may come out about the same by finding an HK94 and SBR'ing it (not sure what HK94's are going for)

I just picked up my AT-94k and let me say, it is built like the proverbial masonry outhouse.  I've seen the bobcat arms 94 and I can say that this Turkish HK clone is top notch in every way.  I am in the process right now of starting a form 1 on this beast to make it a PDW.  ETA If I am taking the time to do paperwork and pay taxes on any HK clone it will be one made on HK tooling like this one.

Doing the same with mine...and I agree with your last statement 100%!

If you can find a Vector clone they are very nice and run pretty well right out of the box.

The turkish guns can you put normal hand guards/shrouds on them?

I bought a new in the box Vector 89 and 94. Neither ran and the 3 lugs would not take a HK flash hider or a AAC 3 lug can. I sold them both and bought a HK 94 and converted it to MP5 specs.
why waste your time buying a fake and putting German parts in it hoping it will fix a problem when you can buy the real deal and it will run.

As far as I can tell.  Mine came without anything covering the barrel (for import points) but I will be picking up a few things for it tomorrow.  Everything is supposed to be a drop in with the pistols.  There are very few exceptions with one being no ability to accept a full auto bolt and the rifles not able to accept standard HK94 mags due to 922(r) issues but that is fixable by removing the two rods welded in the mag well after getting the parts count right.  Everything else is supposed to be dead nuts on for an HK94 just costing $1500 instead of $2-3k.

They welded a bar in the receiver to prevent us from using a full-auto bolt....

OK im super interested in picking up a AT-94k and getting it SBR'ed. What all would need to be done to the gun to make it compliant? and will the barrel cover just bolt on?

I think to make an SBR with this you would have to comply with 922R, replacing enough parts to get the foreign parts to 10 or less. The foregrip fits on with a single push pin.

All my Vector clones run 100%. On one of SP89 clones the paint/coating on the 3 lugs was kinda thick. Slight sanding took care of the problem.
