| Anyone else have an obsession with the MP5 platform? |
| When i was in The Marines, the force recon Marines let us shoot their suppressed mp5's in exchange for cleaning them.Of all of the weapons i ever shot, these left one of the best impressions. I still remember the sound of the cardboard targets smacking, and the sound of the brass bouncing off the steel flightdeck. It was awesome to watch the holes just appear on the targets, right where the front sight was pointing.Simply awesome. |

I mean I just bought a POF 5KX Pistol that will be turned into an SBR with a A3 collapsible stock and vertical grip.
https://www.atlanticfirearms.com/component/virtuemart/shipping-rifles/pof-5kx-9mm-pistol-package-detail.html?Itemid=0 I personally like the stubnose version since I dont want to run it suppressed at all. I got my 300blk out for that. |
| While this is undoubtedly my favorite SMG platform, and I fell in love with it from the first Die Hard movie, I wouldn't call it an obsession. Now, when you get the tattoo of the SEF MP5 silhouette, then I would say it's become an obsession. Although... I have been contemplating getting it. |

Quoted: Kinda want one but kinda don't cuz of the price. Exploring the route of going into the AUG 9mm.... or listen to my wife and be happy with my M11/9mm Lage setup....... I'm happy with my FA lage but just........who can beat a MP5. I don't know.. |

Mainly because I have a SBR 300blk and didnt want to run that can on the POF style MP5k. I also didnt want to buy a correct can just for that POF and I also like the Stub nose look/classic look. |

I shot a full auto converted HK94 back in 1985 and have wanted a semi auto MP5 ever since.
However, I can't see me ever owning a semi auto MP5. $1500-ish is way too much money - its over two house payments! If they were $600-700 I might be able to justity it to myself, but not $1500. |
|
I don't have an MP5 obsession.
But I have owned in the past: HK94 converted to SBR. HK HK94/MP5SD, SBR. Ca DOJ HK94. HK SP89. All these guns have been sold. I still have: HK SP89/MP5K-N conversion Dakota Tactical D54P (MP5 clone pistol) Power Shot P5 (MP5 clone pistol with threaded barrel) HK Registered Sear... and MM23E... |

You only live once. Do what makes you happy. If I compared everything to how many house payments I could make I would never buy anything!!!! |

Yes. Video games, movies, Tom Clancy books, Tom Clancy video games... I've been hopelessly obsessed for a long, long time. The only thing that comes close is the G36c, which we are unlikely to ever see, and SL8 conversions are $Texas.
My SBR POF MP5 is my favorite gun, by a long shot, and gets huge bonus points over al the other clones by having the correct hinged/push pin grip frame. Nothing else I own comes close. I don't even care that POFs can never be auto sear hosts because that shit isn't legal in Minnesota anyways, and probably never will be. One of these days I'll spend another $400 to buy a proper 4 position pictogram (semi auto) trigger pack and grip frame, but I'm content with the SEF for now. |

Yeah, I'd say I do, with at least one clone of MP5K 9mm, MP5K PDW 9mm, MP5K reverse stretch 9mm, full size 9mm, MP5 SD 9mm, MP5K PDW in .40 S&W, full size MP5 in .40 S&W, MP5K PDW in 10mm, full size MP5 45 with at least one of MP5 SD in .40 S&W, and a MP5K RS in .45X being built now with a full size MP5 in 10mm receiver and parts set waiting to be shipped to the builder. I'd think most would say I have a problem. I still want a MP5K RS .40 S&W and a SW45XK.

Enough money and a little luck (I don't know of any factory SW45X RS built) and you can do it too. Scott |

Cannon I am humbled. Here are some HKs I have carried at work on a few continents and some of which I own. I have been very lucky in my lifetime even though the FBI made me give the 10mm back after a month. I have got to use almos t all of the HKs including some they said they never made. 1st one issued in Afghanistan a Pakistan made A2 with ammo from the embassy. http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q427/Old18C/Toys/JohnHenry041_zps3fe92c6e.jpg My MP-5A3 in my collection (rebuilt 94 by RDTS with SWISS Stock that I like more than standard A3) http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q427/Old18C/Toys/ArchsMP5A3.jpg My MP-5K PDW (rebuilt from a SP89) http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q427/Old18C/Toys/ArchsMP5K.jpg My HK-52A3 (7.62x39 my favorite people hunter) http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q427/Old18C/Toys/ArchsHK52.jpg One of the most abusive 7.62x51 machineguns ever designed, a HK21K we used a few times. http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q427/Old18C/Toys/HK21a.jpg One of the guns we used at work while in Kabul, my friend carried http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q427/Old18C/Toys/HKOfficeGun.jpg My MP-5A2 (The Pakistan made) and A3 (German Made and sold to the Shaw in the 60s (marked in Farsi, the orginal owner no longer needed it and I started carrying it) http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q427/Old18C/Toys/b8eb83be-ef1d-44e2-828f-97298637a535_zpsee31aa0d.jpg) What unit were you with? How did you get your booger hooks on a real HK52? |

Was the 94 better, smoother, nicer to shoot than the clones? Absolutely, but not over twice as nice. I just couldn't see shooting it when I had the clones to beat on. That's how I feel. I have a MP5A2 clone built from German parts kit on LSC receiver by Jeff. Runs great, never had an issue. Don't feel the need to spend double the money for a receiver that says "HK" just so I can feel bad about shooting it. |
| Guys I am an "OLD" guy, the most I paid for any of my HKs or clones was $1500 the first HK 91 I got was imported by SARCO and cost $325. I have them registered as SBRs with one trigger pack to swap around and cans for all of them. lilMAC25 I spent 25 years in a Special Forces Unit after I qualified with three years in a unit they wanted people from on active duty. I was in the National Guard and Active duty and was a contractor for a while and still play the game as a SME for DHS. The Thai Royal Guard had HK 52s on one trip when the Prince jumped with us and it took me 11 years to get someone to make me one and it runs GREAT. |

May I ask which builder you used? Thanks for your candor! |
