I just noticed this on my MPX gen 1.

I have less than 500 rounds of American Eagle 115 gr through it unsupressed. I do plan on calling Sig CS but wanted to get feedback from other users first.
Anyone see this before?

When prepping to have mine cerakoted i noticed some damage on the same location...not as bad as yours though.
The funny part is that I can't remember ever having a stove pipe which is what I would expect have caused the damage unless it was always there from manufacturing and I just never noticed it before.

I've never had a stove pipe either. Sure flings the brass with a lot of force though. I'll report back with what Sig CS says.

Ok, Sig CS said it was normal. Sounds weird but ok. Anyway I'll see how it goes. I'd still be interested in hear if other have had the same issue.
Thanks.

Mine looks like that as well. The metal is just paper thin in that spot.

That was what I thought when I looked at it while detail stripping my upper, thinking that a thin soft aluminum edge like that  can't possible last very long and was considering filing it down before the cerakote.
In the end, I just pushed it somewhat straight again as I was afraid that it would screw with how the brass would fly if I took it down.

I'm quite sure this is why the gen2 has a wider ejection port. As all of us gen1 owners know, the brass is pretty much trash and un-reloadable.

The Gen 2 has a wider ejection port because of the 40 cal conversion coming. Has nothing to do with 9mm and I have fired 500 rounds from my Gen 1 and have no damage what soever.

I've shot a variety of ammo suppressed and unsupressed. Every casing ejected has a pretty sizable dent in the side. Has this not been the case for you, or other gen1 owners for that matter?

300-400 rounds through a Gen1 MPX....I have similar blemish in that area of the EP, I don't recall getting any brass back that was not reloadable.

No issues with mine.  About 1,000 rounds in, mostly 147gr handloads and shooting suppressed.  Probably have shot a couple hundred unsupressed - 115gr handloads.

My brass looks fine.  Maybe 10% are slightly indented at the case mouth but they will reload fine.

I guess just add it to the list of what SIG said is normal with the MPX. Just makes my decision to never buy another SIG product again is looking more and more like the right one.
