I have almost 40,000 rounds through my E-4, Jenny Marie, and she's my GOTO and most precious gun.  But now I'm worried because of the round count. I want to start buying replacement parts for her, and I'm not sure on my direction. I also have one more question that is a bit different.

Is MSAR currently selling all of the products they have on their website, or is it a tease again?
Has anyone bought any new parts since the reopening? Any new barrel owners?
Who is selling/producing the VFG replacement rails?
Would it be better to just buy a whole new E-4 to use as a parts gun?

Or should I sell my gun that I love and has never let me down to buy an AUG A-3?

My sexy and always faithful girl, my Jenny Marie

What does the throat look like after that many rounds? Any loss of accuracy?

I don't have a borescope, so I can't be 100% positive.  But using my eyeball it looks OK.  No loss in accuracy.  No problems at all.  The only wear noticable is where the charging handle locks up.

So far everything I wanted from MSAR they had in stock. Except the Tan stock witch was a week from being finished when I wanted mine. The week out was right on the mark. Got everything as promised

I never asked about the .556 barrels so I don't know. I am holding off (on waiting list) for the 300BO barrels to come to light.

An MSAR just listed on the EE for $900 +freight. It has a 20 inch barrel which I'm unsure of. I have an msar myself so it's good to hear hat yoj were well taken care of by msar as far as extras.

An MSAR with 40k rds? No way, according to the internet commandos, these guns are junk and break after 1k! Glad you're still going strong, love my E4! Have you talked to the folks at Ratworx for spares? They might be able to help.

I wish I had that kind of scratch for ammo-he must roll his own.

No.  I got to buy ammo almost every paycheck for a year and was able to a really start stockpiling.  I also hit upon a gift when I spotted a pricing error and bought 17 cases of mis-priced ammo

I haven't bought a round in almost 2 years and I'm down to a tiny bit I'm saving now

I could take a pic, but it won't show much.  I put a piece of pile tape behind it.  I did replace the tape about a year ago, and there were some marks under it.  not too bad really.  I think a piece of thick rubber glued on would be better.  and a shell deflector would be even better than that! I had the day off yesterday so I went shooting again.  I was shooting Brown Bear 55gr and was getting about 2-2.5MOA @100yds.

I bought one of these things but haven't put it on yet.  Looks like it should work well and probably better than tape to protect the stock.  AUG Stock Protector

I've got one of these on mine. I've also got the Raptor Charging Handle on it as well. It is a must have upgrade if you run an optic, and keeps you from busting your knuckles on your optic when charging.

Oh well, I was hoping to see how bad the damage was to the stock with 40,000 ejected rounds on it.

That is a well maintained rifle. I had a 20" barrel E-4 that I (roughly estimate) put  2k rounds through. It  got very little stock damage as  I almost always stuck some adhesive rubber strip insulation on the stock when firing.

This had 20,000+ rds though it a while back. The pictures are already a year old. No idea on rd count now... don't see a reason to keep track any longer.
It gets shot a lot, wherever it goes, everyone loves selectfire especially with how the AUG pull-through trigger operates.

Brass marks on stock:

Flash hider takes a lot of abuse from gas, The gas is cutting into the bare aluminum:

Charging handle area of receiver looks like crap, which is normal of all A1's that get used:

That is what I expect to see from a high mileage AUG or MSAR

Looks like a neatly made accessory. I was considering using a piece of adhesive back moleskin. I've used it on other guns to build up combs and cheekpieces, etc.

ETA: OP-- for spare parts I got what I could from Ratworx since I bought the MSAR. For the other parts I scoured the 'net for years before scarfing up other small parts.

Buy some spares from Ratworx - keep the gun. Mine has only about 2000 rounds but I ordered a replacement bolt just in case.
