What size mag do you prefer?  Reliabiility?  Does the 42rd mag get in the way?

Thanks

I prefer the black 30's mainly because they fit my existing pouches & gear. The 42's are nice and mine were reliable as long as I remembered to tap the back of the mag when loaded to seat the bullets against the back of the mag.

I have mostly 42rnd mags for my MSAR and haven't had any sort of problem with them. They don't get in the way at all except for shooting prone.

I have both and now that Microtech replaced my stock they both run fine, however, I've noticed that I usually have to download the 42s to 40 to get them to always seat properly.

I only use the 42 rounders.  They work perfectly and I figure what the hell, more ammo capacity is better.  My Blackhawk chest rig accomodates them with little difficulty.  One of my favorite things about the MSAR is that the balance of the gun doesn't seem to change much whether the gun is empty or with a full 42 rounder inserted.  Since the added weight is so near your shoulder the gun doesn't feel heavier at all, especially compared to putting a full mag in an AR15.

Do you guys recommend the MSAR or AUG mags? I have the new gen MSAR that accepts both.  What is difference in price and quality? I'm looking to buy at least 5 mags this week.  Seems to me the AUG mags are pretty expensive, and the MSAR look to be same quality at a cheaper price.  Please let me know what y'all think.

EDIT: good sources for AUG and MSAR mags?

I've got 5 AUG mags I'll sell you........kidding as I just got 5 sweet new AUG mags for my new GenIV STG from another member and long story short they don't work that great with the MSAR in my opinion. The fit is snug at the mag well so no drop free and the bolt hold open won't work on any of them. I've only inserted them into the weapon and cycled it manually so I've no idea if they will feed properly when actually fired. I doubt it. My advice is go with original MSAR mags. I'll be doing so as soon as I can sell these. A shame since they are really nice looking pieces. Great quality. The green with green follower and floor plate are killer looking. If anyones interested in them I'll post them on the EE after this for what I got them for. They are brand new by the way.

*Update* I'm keeping the AUGs. Discovered the issue with them was as with most mags spring related. A little spring stretch and now totally reliable.
