I'm going to mount a scope on my MSAR and I'm wondering what type of 30 mm mount height you guys used?  High, Med, Low?

I need to know as well.....for me, I can't spend too much. I will be mounting a Millet DMS-1 scope.

I am thinking LaRue QD, but what height?

I have a DMS-1 in TPS "medium" height rings on mine and the eye relief is perfect.  I also have a somewhat fat face.  Vectorsc put a Meopta Meostar on his MSAR using low rings and I had to smash my cheek into the stock in an attempt to get a clear sight picture.

Duke,

A picture of your set up would be great to see......that will be exactly what I have in mind.

Please

Ask and you shall recieve.  Note two things from the following pic--

1: I've reversed the TPS rings so the mounting bolts extend to the right side of the gun.  This means no bashing my knuckles on protruding mounting hardware when I use the charging handle.

2: I've positioned the scope in the rings and their mounting points on the rail to move the optic as far forward as possible, in the name of eye relief.  When I shoot offhand, I shoot hunched over in a crouch, which moves my head closer to the muzzle of the gun than someone who shoots standing straight up.  If I were going to use a Larue QD mount I'd get one with some offset built in between the base and rings.

I have a friend (and fellow arfcommer) who has a DMS-1 in a Larue QD Mount and the height of the scope was fine.  I'm not sure of the part number on his mount, sorry.  The forward lever of the mount dug a big divot into the side of the MSAR's rail.  I don't care, but someone who doesn't want their rifle scratched up might have.

Here's a pic of me (foreground) sighting in my MSAR at 100 yards, with Vectorsc on the left side of the bench attempting to spot for me using his Meostar.

And here's a crappy pic I took trying to align my camera lens with the view through the DMS-1.  The optic is actually much better than this pic shows, I'm going to try again to take a better picture soon.  Range is 100 yards, power is 4x.
