I had the Eotech 4X magnifier and XR.308 mounted
on a LAW483 M14 MCS by TROY and it was very nice.
I would not attempt the set up on any other stock though.

I had that setup but on a SAGE stock. Worked well.

Only regular stocks can be used on new builds in CA; what would the problem be? If it sits too high, I can get an adjustable cheek piece put on the stock. What about eye relief?

I don't know about Kali, but LAW483 and several others can chime in.
I remember the eye relief being very short, too short for me.

If you get an extended rail set up on your rifle it can work. I have an extended rail on a Socom 2, and played with an Aimpoint 3X behind a comp M2. Eye relief is an issue, I had my stock shortened by about 2 1/2 inches and worked great. Eventually, I mounted it on an AR and left the red dot on the M1A
