Seriously. I watched a video from the 1980s where some guy took modeling clay and shoved it down the barrel of an H&R shotgun and split the barrel just like that. The Mythbusters didn't do too much research on that one. |

I've seen several gun barrels split just like that when they were fired with an obstruction in the muzzle. I stopped watching "Mythbusters" after the stupid shooting into water one. IMO, they did that test all wrong too. I don't think they really know much about firearms, but like to act like they do. Plus, I didn't watch the episode, but someone said they trashed an M1 Garand in one episode. That just makes me furious! |

Mythbusters hammered a steel bar into the bore of a shotgun till it was extreemly tight. It did nothing to the barrel. That is more extreem then mud or a softer object. If you guys are so smart dupilcate what the Mythbusters did and proove them wrong.....you will fail. |
+1. The underwater one blew up the shotgun. The M1 was fine being shot underwater. |
Did you not look at the picture at the beginning of this thread. Obviously, a rifle barrel can and does split like that. As to the part of your post I highlighted in red, no thank you. I don't feel like sacrificing any of my firearms. Maybe you could supply me with your guns for testing.

I know it happends. Just seemed like some guys were calling the mythbusters stupid guys when in fact they are pretty darn smart. |
They may be smart, but their expertise is primarily in special FX for TV and movies. It is true they don't know much about firearms. They called the M1 Garand an "assault rifle"! IMHO, that is a stupid thing to say. I think they may even be a bit anti-gun because of that statement.
