Can I order a barrel and parts to convert a rifle over to SBR before I get the lower stamped? Preferred method is: Build a pistol. Then send off the form 1 and engrave. Wait for stamp. Add stock. Don't have a short upper without either a SBR or pistol lower to put it on. You're going to be waiting 5-6 months for the stamp to come back, an extra week waiting on a barrel is a drop in the bucket. But still, the quickest/easiest way is to build the pistol, but it's not the cheapest because now you have a new rifle instead of converting an existing one. |

Buy a PSA lower, have it transferred as "other" use it in pistol configuration for SBR upper host until stamp arrives.
What I personally ended up doing was buy a separate lower, transfered as "other" then bought a pistol buffer tube. Then I built my SBR upper. I never built that lower up as a pistol, but I had everything there just so no one could give me issues. I didn't want an SBR upper laying around the house without a LEGAL lower host for it. Was that 100% necessary? Probably not, but it was there in case. And now, ive moved my SPRish upper onto it, and it's my "precision" rig. |
