| Who has the best price on a new 4570 Marlin guide gun? |
| The hard part is being able to find on right now Buds guns usually has pretty good prices but last I check they only had 450m in stock I looked on Davidson’s gallery of guns and it doesn’t look like they have any 45-70 marlins in stock. Your best bet might be to look around on gunbroker and see what the best prices you can find and there is always a chance that some one local might have one. Are you wanting stainless or blued? |

Does it have to be new?

Not to hijack, buy how robust are these rifles? I'd consider getting one for the sole purpose of shooting crazy hot loads out of it to get my fair dose of recoil every once and a while. If your going to go full out crazy get a ruger #1. Marlin 45/70 can take quite a bit of abuse. Have you checked out marlin owner site? |
| They are very robust actions, I doubt you could find a load available commercialy that would blow one up. That said, there is a third classification in reloading manuals that goes above and beyond the 1895 action, and specifies the Ruger No.1 action for extreame loads. |

I bought and traded for a used one last week with a Nikon Prostaff scope on it. It looked brand new. Got it for under $250.
Shot it this past weekend. Right on the money. Not a scratch on it. I really like the Nikon Scope. I also just bought 400 rounds of the Leverevolution ammo. |

Checked earlier and Buds has them in stock for $508 shipped. I have been contemplating on selling one of my .44Mag leverguns to finance the purchase of a GG. I would bet anything those are new Remington marlins. I saw a new marlin last week in the store and it had the dot style bar code kind of like the ones that smart phones read the serial number code was under the hammer and could only be seen when it was cocked it’s the exactly the same style code that I have seen on new Remington 700 under the bolt handle. The rifle I saw was a 336 and it look surprisingly good but still had some wood to metal fitment issues on the stock and the 4 scope mount plug screws look like the had got stripped during installation.I’m not saying I would not buy one I would just be interested to see how well they are made |

Don't worry, just use the date for the Marlin actions in the load books and you will get your fair share of recoil! I run 300gr Hornady bullets at a bit over 2100fps and it'll rattle your bones!! Plus, if you didn't know, Wild West Guns uses the Marlin 1895 to make their Master Guide rifles in 457WWG which is a slightly lengthened .45-70 case and is running just as hot as the hottest data out there. SO yes, the action can handle it. Just don't run Ruger #1 data is all. You will want a big loop lever too by the way as the hot loads will rap yer knuckles in the standard size lever! |
