I've been thinking of getting a mauser of some kind. Whats the difference in the 24/47 and the 48 Yugos? Thanks. Greg

The 24/47 tend to be two sizes, standard and intermed. lengths, as for the M48 is an Intermed length.

If you want an stand length, go with an Czech 98/22 or something like that.

24/47 are intermediate length. The 24/52 is sgandard length as are the Yugo rebuilt GEW/MOD 98.

The 24/47's seem a tad more sleek. The M48's are "newer" mausers, many of them unissued. Either will work fine for you.

OK, you're all saying standard length vs intermediate length. Stupid question, but are you talking receiver length or simply the whole rifle length? Thanks. Greg

On a Yugo Model 48 the receiver is shorter by maybe 1/2 inch than the standard Model 98 Mauser receiver.

reciver length. the 24/47 and m48 will look laike cept the 24 will have a straight bolt.

Not only receiver length, but also bolt assembly length are different among the common Mauser "lengths."

The Czech (98, 98/22, 23, and 24) and German G98 series are all "standard" length. Their derivatives (Yugo 24/52, Model 98) are also standard.

The FN and Yugo Mausers are "intermediate" length. The FN Model 24 derivative, the 24/47 falls into that class.

Off the top of my head, the only "long" action Mauser I can think of is the German-made, Turk contract 1903's and their derivatives.
