Does anyone have experience with one?  What did you use it with?  Recommendattions?

I've been considering one as a back up while riding.

Lightwieght, low profile type fixed blades work best.  Although a kydex holster for your favorite folder will work too.  Have seen a tleast 1 guy use a Mercharness for a Kel-Tec P32.

Thanks.  I'm definitely going with a fixed blade.  In fact, I think I'm going to buy a new fixed blade to carry.  Now I have to start researching THAT.

Consider a Becker BK14 (EsKaBar) - it's thin, light, comes with a great little sheath and is reasonably priced ($33 shipped from Amazon)...  If you want a knife with a "real handle", you might consider an ESEE-3 - it too is reasonably thin & light and has a great sheath for your application - the price is about $100 give or take...

I'm thinking of one for my CRKT Dragon Claw.  Tagged for reviews.

Thanks!  I really appreciate the your post.  I've always used issued knives or stuff I picked up at the PX.   I don't know much about quality knives, and wasn't interested until I held one another guy carried and realized what I was missing.

Glad to be of assistance...  there are a lot of great knives out there.  One of my all time favorites is the Fallkniven F1 but it might not do anything for you...  Look around for a knife you like - one that is well suited to the task(s) you have in mind and feels comfortable in the hand...  if the sheath that comes with the knife doesn't work for this application don't worry.  You can have a custom kydex sheath made that will work great in the rig you like for just about any knife - there are a lot of kydex benders & cutters out there...

Good luck on your search...
