So I've decided that I must have an OTF auto. I have pretty much narrowed it down to the Microtech Halo or Piranha Excaliber. I've had the chance to handle a few Piranhas but never touched a Microtech. Obviously Microtech makes a great product. I really love the solid feel of the Piranha. Has anyone handled both? How do they compare? It seems that I read somewhere that Microtech's customer service isn't great, but I could be wrong. I plan to actually carry and use this knife, so I want to make sure that it won't wear out and that I have good back up if it should. Also, if I do go with Microtech, should I consider any other model besides the Halo? I'm not stoked that it isn't DA but I've read that it's still the knife to choose. Thanks.

I have an older HALO III. It is not in carry rotation. I wil say however that I was completely suprised how tight the lock up is. I have not had any experience with Piranha so I cannot speek to their quality.  As for Microtech's customer service I have had 1 oppertunity to deal with their staff. My experience was with the MSAR rifle rather than a knife but I was more than impressed to say the least.  I posted on Microtech's board that I picked up one of their rifles. Within 24 hours some one from the company posted his name and contact information and requested me to call to make sure my rifle was up to date with all the needed upgrades.  If their service is this good with their knives I won't mind adding a couple more to my collection.

Microtech is top notch. I have no experience with Piranha Excaliber. I'm sure it's a good company but any thing i've picked up from microtech has been awesome possum and rock solid. You won't regret dealing with them.

I have a Piranha auto and it is great, not an OTF but it was $120 and has been a great knife.

Microtech has awesome CS from what I hear.
