I am thinking of getting two 40 round magazines for a mini-14. The two choices I have are Western and Triple K. Both of these magazines come with a warranty. Do they work well? If they don't work is the warranty any good? Western: www.fourfourmagstore.com/prodinfo.asp?number=WS-MINI1440S&variation=&aitem=15&mitem=15 Triple K: www.midwayusa.com/rewriteaproduct/512663 The Triple K gets good feedback by Midway USA customers. |

I'd stick with the Ruger factory mags or PMI. The conventional wisdom is that stick mags over 36 rounds don't work well because you need excessive spring pressure to make them work. If you have enough spring pressure they won't strip the first rounds. You even hear reports of people with 40 round PMI having problems. Who knows maybe you will get lucky. <G> Dennis Jenkins

I recently bought 2 of the triple K mags from Midway. 1 30rnd stainless, and 1 40rnd blued. The 30 stainless had 2 feed problems out of 300 rounds of Wolf 55gr. The 40 blued had no feed problems and fed as well as the Ruger factory 20rnd I have. It fed over 500 rounds of Wolf 55gr without a misfeed through both bumpfire and slower fire. I belive it was a feed lip problem on the 30 round mag that I have since fixed but have not had a chance to test. Hope that helps some, Rsteinb |

I had to do some filing on my Triple-K mags to make both work. Ruger factory mags are the best, and I have no clue where to get any NEW ones. To be frank, I traded in my Mini-14 for an AR-15. You should do the same. Get a M4 clone in its place. If you can't afford all the accessories right now, just make sure you get a M4 profile barrel with a carry handle and build it up over the coming months. themao

| i'd suggest getting PMI mags, but Triple K does have a good warranty. if any of there mags don't work, they will replace them. i've done this before, but sometimes even the replacement mags don't work. i guess you could just keep sending them in until you get working ones. |
| I have found some of the lesser quality magazines to work with a few caveats. Often feedlip adjustment is in order for complete reliability. Most are not heat treated (but one or two are, PMI/Schearer?) so you may have to go back and tweak the lips every now and then. I even have USA mags that work though for full auto I stick with Ruger or PMI's. |
