hi there
my buddy has a mini-30 that drops mags  when he fires it
i told him to get rid of it but he wont listen
i read somewhere that ruger built these with the purpose of being able to use
"battlefield pickup" mags  ala AK47 mags
so im wondering..... anyone know of a mod to make ak mags work?

There was a thread about this on perfectunion.com.  It's no where nearly as simple as picking up an AK mag though.<G>

i searched thru the perfect union pages
lots of micless drivel about no mags or mags not working
saw one thread about the conversion but it didnt have any real info
if anyones got  a good link for me id appreciate it
so i can study it for future reference

As you probably know, Ruger never made any hi-cap factory mags for the Mini30.  The 30 was intended to be a sporting rifle not a psuedo military rifle.  Hence, the only mags that are available for it are aftermarket brands.

I've had a Mini 30 sinc they first came out and have experineced mags falling out by themselves on several occasions. Mostly this have occured with plastic mags. I've never had a problem with facotry 5 rounders.

As for AK mags and having several AKs and dozens of AK mags, AK mags won't even fit into a 30 and I've never seen or heard of an AK mag modification.
