I bought a KSG  Monday. It was lightly used and the guy gave me some aguila mini shells with it. They cycle fine and are accurate,  I have been looking at some of the other mini shells on the market because they got my curiousity up. I picked up some centurion 00 shells that are 2", 6 pellets and  1250 fps, the ksg will hold 8 per tube as opposed to 7  of the 2 3/4" shells. I just found some aguila  dual buckshot that has 7 #4 pellets and 4 #1 pellets at 1265 fps and they  1 1/2" which allows for 12 shells per tube.  Low recoil 9 pellet Remington 00s are going out at 1200fps, am I missing something or are these minis the way to go?? Thanks guys.

Personally I can't see the attraction to aguila mini shells, but I like recoil. Each to their own I guess.

Understandable, I like a good 12 gauge beating now and then too. But if you can increase your ammo capacity by 50% and  still get good performance on target why not?

Where can you find these rounds? Is it online only or will Walmart have them?

Have you actually gotten the mini-shells to fire and cycle?  Rumors early on indicated it wouldn't cycle them properly (jamming).

Wal-Mart; probably not. But I bought some of the 2" centurions at a local gun shop and the 1 1/2"s seem easy to find online and  are plentiful at the fun show, just haven't paid much attention to 12ga ammo until lately and they seemed like a good way to go to me

Guess I'll have to go hit some gunstores. How are they price-wise, and are they sold in 5PACs or full boxes?

I put 40 rds of the aguila mini shells, 20 7 1/2 shot and 20 slugs through my KSG today and had no malfunctions, I know they say that  they will not cycle through a automatic.

They say they won't run in semi autos, but it would be worth 15$ to find out for yourself, ETA I bet the centurion 2" shells will

Good to know.  I like the concept of the Agula's and the KSG is on my "wish list" so that info makes both much more attractive.

They seem to have a good amount of "uummphh" so to speak and being able to load up 25 of them into the gun is pretty awesome. Going to the gunshow this weekend and I plan to stock up on all the mini buckshots that I can

+1.  I've been tempted by them but have stayed away after reading in the product description that they were recommended for single shots due to possible feeding issues.

I will try to run some through my 870 and 500 this weekend and see how they feed in those as well

My wife really likes the Aguila minis when training at the range.  She's keeps 4 Buck loaded by the bed, but doesn't like to shoot too many at the range...the minis are perfect for several of the drills and she can go through a couple dozen with no issues.  I don't know how effective they really would be, but they work well for training.

I found that they feed good thru the 870 but the Mossberg 500 dont like them . The 870 has a solid loading spoon (if thats what its called) and the 500 has an open (hole) type loading spoon. The mini round tend to jam/misaline in the 500.

They cycle in the Ithica m37, at least the old ones , ( mines 1967)

Thats good news.  I haven't tried them because thats about all I own other than a 1200 and semi-autos.

I always liked the Idea of these, based solely on increased capacity.  I have a nice 26" that I would set up just for em.

I'd like to see some recipes for rolling my own too.  I'd like BB shot.

The Aguila mini shells would not cycle reliably through my Mossberg 500.  They did better through my friend's 870, but still not reliable enough for any serious use.  Warning!  Do not let an Aguila mini shell anywhere near a Remington  model 10 shotgun!!!!!!!!!  They not only will not function, but can actually get turned around inside of the receiver and require major rocket surgery to remove!!!!!!!

The 2" shells might be a better choice.  If the KSG is reliable with them, that sounds terrific.

I see room for lots of improvement in shot shells.  After all, they are basically a 19th century design.  Surely we can do better with modern materials and designs.

True, but it gets the job done. People still use shotguns primarily for hunting and although most have a shotgun for home protection it is rarely used on the range due to most people being sensitive to recoil.

It's not as fun to the weekend warrior as say an ar-15 or a pistol

The mini slugs cycle in my benelli super nova but even at 25 yds I dont get consistent groupings. I prefer Federal reduced recoil when I want to shoot slugs.
