Upland Birds, Clays, Ducks?

Everything with the exception of skeet. I have even used a Modified choke for turkey hunting. If you pattern your load, and keep them within 30 yards you can have a tom in the oven.

If I could only have one choke, it would be Modified.

Modified is the all around choke and will work for almost anything. Two of my dove guns have modified chokes, another has a full, and the others have screw in chokes.

Will it would for hand thrown clays?

Sure, provided you can hit with it. Most of my modified choke barrels actually shoot patterns like a full choke, and my full choke barrel shoots even tighter. That makes it a little tougher to hit at close range, but after you get it down the long shots are easy.

IIRC, the general rule of thumb for pattern spread is an inch per yard from a full choke.
