| I bought my dad an STG44 this weekend at the Miami gun show and discovered that the factory mag is low capacity. I have not taken it apart yet, but it looks like it wouldn't be too hard to extend the capacity, though the spring may need to be replaced. Considering the outlandish prices these days on the mags, am I able to modify this one? |

If its anything like other mags like GSG-5, probably can be done
My guess disassemble by removing screws and see what's going on inside of it. Likely would be the spring needs to be replaced with a longer spring and remove the blocks and limiting hardware. Probably not hard. I noticed that the bodies are identical. My 10 rounders are marked externally up to 20 something rounds. Not sure if the GSG-5 springs that were common would fit or not. But it is the same caiber and one would think they would try to have as much compatible as possible. |

ATI may have replacement StG-44 springs by now.
There may not be a parts diagram up on the site yet; the STG-44 magazine spring is part # 402.60.06.1 They don't mention if more than one spring available [10, 25 are definitely different]. If you go for the GSG-5 spring, please post the part # and pic. Be careful popping the magazine apart. I noticed evidence of glue on my 10 rd magazine (pics elsewhere in this forum). |

I pulled mine apart and used a spring from a GSG5 mag. It works fine now. Its a simple swap without spending $65+ on another mag. Are GSG5 mags cheap enough to not bother just buying the spring??? Heh...I wonder if Cuomo/Obama will start banning springs... There is a block inside the STG mag that allows it to be set at certain areas to limit the rounds in the current magazine. Yeah - The box says it can be 2, 10, 15, or 25...
