Lets just say my SBR recently met a tragic ending, and my tragic... a bent mag well. (dont ask.... Instead of going through the WHOLLLLLLE SBR process again, is it possible to just update my existing SBR paperwork section 4 with the new information from from the lower I want to transfer all the parts to? Let me know gents! I really dont want to go through the waiting bs again. Thanks! |

Lets just say... I onloaded the truck... a certain girl wanted to drive the truck to the grocery store.... and a certain 35" tire rolled over a soft case that had been leaning against the passengers door prior to the truck starting to move while I was putting other stuff away. its not bent THAT bad, just a little bowed. I'm gonna try and bend it back but im sure i'll get a crack in it (damn aluminum). Funny thing is the Eotech and the Daniels Defense Omega Rail weren't damaged... nor was the upper.
So let me ask this.... if I go through the whole damn process to register one of my other many lowers as an SBR... get my new stamp... then can I unregister my damaged SBR and get my $200 back? heard something along those lines once... |

Think you may only get a refund if you never actually made the Lower receiver into a SBR, example you registered but never once attached a short barrel on it. But since you said your upper was not damage we can only assume that it was actually built in one and there is proof of it on the net from yourself, "so no refund for you" |

The problem is that all of the smiths that work on NFA ARs have prices that lean towards working on your $15k M16 lower vs your $300 SBR lower.
I bet it'd be cheaper to go through the process and make a new SBR vs having it repaired, but you'll have to pay another $200 tax. I wouldnt trash the lower, just toss it in the back of the safe in case it ever becomes financially viable to have it fixed (in other words: entire NFA registry closed). Kharn |

really how bad is it?
If it can be used as is .. use it and chalk it up to a lesson on not to lean stuff against the vehicles! let's see a pic to determine how bad it is. I just got a brainstorm .. get a 9mm upper that would work with a suomi drum set-up and have a Class 2 SOT mill up the lower and move the mfgr markings. and yes this can be done legally but only by a class 2 and they will have to file some paper to legally move the info off from the mag well onto the back end of the recvr. |
