Looking to get more enjoyment out of the M44.

I see you have an option of buying the rear sight only.

Does the rear sight work with the original front sight of the M44?

Thanks to those who can help, the rest of you bug off

yup it should work well, as the front is a globe type already and you will be able to line up the "rings".  however, i doubt that you will gain any accuracy out of it as peep sights work better when close to the eye.....it may actually make you shoot slower if you plan on hunting with it.  peep sights that far forward can often strain the eye more than a traditional blade/ notch will.  YMMV

you'll never know unless you try it, but when i was looking into it i found it to be more gimmick than practical.  if you had a 91/30 to put it on i would say it maybe worth a shot as it has extra barrel length.  IMHO the sighting plane is too short on the m44 to do anything but frustrate you/ cause eye strain with the MOJO.  a friend has a re-pro trapdoor springfield with a 30" barrel.  he has a williams peep in a forward position similar to the MOJO.  it was pretty easy on the eyes, but only because of the extra length in the sighting plane....it lets you focus easily on the front sight.  YMMV as eveyone's eyes are a little different in reguards to open sights.

This is what I found when I put one on a M48 Mauser.  A peep sight that far forward was very hard to see.  As bad as the Mauser sights are I actually shoot better with them then the Mojo.

Mosin sights are some of the best as far as I'm concerned.  Very easy to align compared to others.
