Another article beating up on the .50cal

I especially thought this statement was funny
"Officer Cesar Quitana patrols a dangerous barrio in Juarez, Mexico. He is armed with an M16 assault rifle -- a weapon that would be no match in a gunfight with drug lords."

Since when did a police officer need to carry anything more than a Machine Gun, and the M16 is just as good or better than the Ak-47 the druglords mainly use. Just like Mexico to blame the U.S. for their drug production.

The guns confiscated included AK-47 rifles and dozens of Fabrique National pistols. The semiautomatic pistols fire a 5.7-by-28 millimeter round, which is technically a rifle round, according to the ATF. Newell says the round has a special nickname in Mexico. "It's called 'mata policias,' or 'cop killer,' " he says.

A about a year ago, my friend with the St. Pete Police showed me a bulletin about the 5.7.  He said the round can go through bulletproof vests.

First of all, no such thing as a bulletproof vest.  Second, the FN 5.7 was made to penetrate body armor with ammunition that is NOT sold to US CIVILIANS.  The ammunition civilians can purchase is loaded with a Hornady V-max which disintegrates upon hitting a prairie dog.  I really doubt it will penetrate any Level II body armor.  This article is a complete bunch of crap because depending upon the level of body armor, damn near anything can defeat it.  Hell a 357 Magnum or +P 9mm can defeat Level II-A body armor.

Ammo specifically designed as armor piercing and made for use in pistols has been illegal for over 10 years in the US.

And a 357 magnum from a 4" revolver will go through two car doors and continue on with enough energy to kill, no sweat.  So will a 44 Mag and damn near any rifle round from a 30-30 to a 50 BMG.

What a bunch of garbage.

If their corrupt government was so concerned about the welfare of their police officers they would HELP BUILD THE FRICKIN WALL.

Otherwise they get what they deserve.

It's the typical media propaganda attemting to show a correlation between the illicit gun trade and gun shops and shows...in other words, total bullshit from the media monster machine.

Interesing.  The M-16 series of weapons isn't good enough to fight Mexican drug lords, but is doing quite well, sending a certain culture to visit 72 Virginians.

It's amazing, they want to take away more of our rights because of Mexico? This wouldn't be an issue if they would support us instead of the drug cartel. Anyhow, All that report did was prove laws like the Brady Bill doesn't do shit to the criminal.

Have to love the news & the media!!!!!!!!! When we had a Officer Killed in the line of duty last summer there were some questions and RUMORS how our .223 rounds fired from our Colt or Rock River Ar-15 did not kill or penetrate the susps vehilce. Well shortlty afterwards our range master put on a special class to show us {patrol officers} and the Media what our round will do to cars, vest and so on. We shot our Ar-15's, 55 grain winchester ranger bullets head on the windsheild, which blew through a dummy bearing a vest, front seat, back seat, out the trunk. Our Sig .357's did the same. Needless to say the round was never questioned again by the news or officers. Susp who Killed Mark Nix will be going on trail this year. Susp Hid behind the engine block only recieved frag. injuries.
WHAT EVER THE NEWS SAY IS A BUNCH OF BULL S@%&. HOWEVER PEOPLE BUY IT AND EAT IT UP!!

God Speed Officer Nix
Rest In Peace
God Bless Our Troops
