Yup, plug. Just unscrew the barrel, turn the receiver upsidedown, shake it, and a wooden dowel should pop out.

I'm not sure it's that simple.  Isn't there a mag cap in there?  IIRC, you gotta turn it a little and remove it.  Anyway, yes, the plug is still in it.

Sometimes the wooden dowel is smaller then the threaded hole in the magazine tube.  If that isn't the case, the magazine tube can be unscrewed from the receiver.  If it is tight, use a strap wrench near the action on the tube itself (be careful not to damage anything) and place the receiver inside a padded vice.

When you get it off, the spring and follower will probably do something funny, so just contain it so something doesn't go flying away.  Whben reinstalling the mag tube, you can use a speck of blue locktite to keep the magazine tube in, if you want you can simply just torque the mag tube back in with the pipe wrench, no need to go balls out, as long as it is tight and stays in there.
