Have a eraticator mueller scope and my up elevation is turned up all the way. I cant center my scope at 100 yards. Is my mount to thick, I have seen plenty of 1022 with this scope. What am I doing wrong?? I am using a extended volquartsen mount and arms throw lever low. If I cnage my rail to a lower will it help me? I need nothing more then 100 yards? The problem you are having is a quite common one to the 10/22, the problem is not with the scope itself, but rather with your barrel. To be more specific, the barrel v-block. If you have an action (such as a M.O.A.) that is steel, you can have the barrel threaded if you choose to, and this insures that the barrel is 'square' to the action. The v-block friction fit used by Ruger tends to introduce barrel 'droop' and this causes the scope to run out of elevation before you can get it sighted in. There is nothing wrong with the friction fit v-block in and of itself, and it can be used to make a very accurate gun, but this is just something that you have to be aware of. There are a couple of ways around this problem, the first is to shim the scope base or using a set of offset ring inserts such as those offered by Burris. The Burris offset inserts is VERY effective in solving this problem. The other way to solve this is to take the 'droop' out of the barrel to begin with, and there are modified v-blocks available for this. The one I use is not a V at all, but instead a rectangular block with a set screw the pushes the barrel up as it is pulled back and locked in place with the action. This part is offered by Midway USA and I think cost about $15. I hope this was of some help. JH |

I never tested the gun without the scope. I ordered the V-block. The scope is not right because I mounted it to 2 other guns and could not get it zeroed. Something has to be loose inside. I sent the scope to rich who seemed really nice, I will let you know what's up on that. I have 2 issues for sure a scope that needs to be replaced and a drooping barrel. I tried to eliminate the scope issue by mounting it to another gun and I saw the same thing. So scope is for sure wrong. As far as a bump on the reciever I need to check. I dont think I will spend the money to thread that tacsol barrel. I woud rather get a more accurate stainless steel and have that worked. Once I fix the problem I will take that barrel off and put it on my stock gun and maybe do the screw in with a better barrel. This build has to be perfect. I wont stop the fight LOL... Thank you for the comments.. I learn so much here. My stocker will have a v block as well. With good ammo I know this gun can do 1 moa without wind. There are people doinig .08 without bolt action.... Once all this get's dont I still have a magazine problem. It only seems to like the stock 10 rounder.
