I'm starting on the paperwork for my first SBR build and have a question in regards to "caliber" selection on form 1140-0011, section 4C...

If possible, I would like to have both a 5.56 and a 6.8SPC upper for the same registered lower...  Is this "legal"?  If so, what would be the correct response on the forms for caliber designation?  Would I put down 5.56 AND 6.8SPC or "Multi"?  OR...  Do i need to choose a single caliber?

Thanks!!!

There's nothing illegal about putting down one caliber on the form and then buying and mounting another upper, or installing a .22lr conversion kit in your existing upper.

As far as putting "multi" down, I think that's the most honest way to fill out the form, but I'm not sure whether BATFE will accept it or not.  I have to call them on Monday anyway, I'll post up what NFA branch tells me.

Much appreciated, sir!!!  Thank you!!!

My plans "on paper" call for the 6.8 to be the original (first) upper and the add the 5.56 as finances permit...
