Anyone know which manufacturer is the best for the multcam tops and bottoms?I'm looking to get a set or two.Should've done it a few years ago when I got a couple boonies from Crye Precision.Anyways from what I've read Truspec and Propper are the most common but then there is SKD and Tag.So I'm confused.TIA.

Crye Precision is still the top dog when you can find them in stock.  Which is almost never.  Someone did a review not too long ago about some Chinese knockoff gear that made identical clothing to Crye.  I never saw it in person, but the tons of pictures he posted made it look great.  It was real Crye fabric, just made by another shop overseas.

I was looking at getting tru-spec, right around $110 for the bdu set from copsplus in 65/35 fabric

mine tops and bottoms are all Tru-spec

Does Tru-Spec make them with the 50/50 nyco blend or only 65/35 Polyester/cotton?

both, matter of fact my gear spot (copsplus) has some in stock last i checked. personally I haven't seen what all the rave is about on the 50/50 for the additional cost.

It seems that Tru-Spec is the brand of choice.Has anyone had experience with any of the others?
7/16/2010 10:27:16 PM EDT
[#7]
or perhaps, it is because it is the most prevalent maker of uniforms using MULTICAM fabric

I have a pair of Propper Multicam pants I wear to work (distribution center)..  I can say they are pretty durable.  In fact, very durable.  No shreds or ripped seams.

That would be me; here's my thread on the trousers...

I also have a set of Tru-Spec ACU cut Multicam trousers; they are 50/50 NYCO ripstop (which I use to compare the OPS trousers). The Tru-Spec pants are pretty comfortable and durable.

Everytime I look on the website it says they are in stock, I just dont have the coin to buy $100+ pants and shirts.  What I would really like is a sterile version with no velcro on the shouder pockets or on the chest for nametapes.

Does anybody know how SKD's and Tru-Spec compare against each other? Reading the description they look identical.

I have 2 pairs of Crye trousers and the one shirt and the quality is outstanding as it my otte gear jacket. our daughter is a designer that worked overseeing production for a few years and she said both products were built using the best materials and the best construction and were worth the high price

SKD's are top notch. I'd put Propper and Tru-Spec, a very close second to them.

I have Propper tops and bottoms. About 110 shipped for a set of their cheaper stuff but the quality is outstanding. Very durable and fit nice. Best part is they usually have all their sizes in stock unlike some of the other companies out there.

They make both.

I, and most people I know prefer the NYCO version.

After examining SKDs and Tru-Spec I think that SKD is slightly better since they allow you to get different variants pertaining to chest pocket openings and the use of a velcro or button opening.

Done it to ACUs, removing the pocket velcro on the outside removes the velcro securing the pocket shut as well.  My wife has a sewing machine, but she cant sew so that leaves me in a situation.

Just sew on a button, and cut a button hole. Make sure you sew the edges of the button hole.

I hate how that shoulder velcro makes the sleeves stiff right there.

I had to go up a size for the SKD's, they were too tight around the nuts and thighs.  I normally wear a ML for BDU and ACU pants, with SKD's I have to go LR.

My SKD's have worn better than my friends Tru spec. His are not even a year old and fading. I have had my SKD's for over 3 years and still holding strong with min fade. If you can afford them go SKD but Propper and truspec are not horrible ether.

I too prefer the NY/CO blend over the Poly/Cotton.  It's much more expensive though.

I have a set from SKD and it's fantastic.  VertX also makes their pants in multicam, and they're going to have a bdu/tactical/combat shirt out soon which will be available in MC.  I love the VertX pants and will surely end up with a set or two of their MC stuff.

It's a shame TAD Gear stopped making their clothing in MC.  I managed to get one of their "Battle Hoodies" in MC and it's my favorite jacket.

Yes, we have been making the 65/35 Poly/Cotton ripstop for some time now.

A 50/50 NYCO ACU and a Defender M FRACU is currently in production and will be available in late August.

have aset of tru spec, best overall quality and fit. have propper pants, close but no tru spec quality. have a pair of the crye field pants, nice look but wierd- the button fly seems off just enough to be noticable (design wise, not a screw up) and the hip pockets are hard to access- the opening is right where the hips bend while seated and they lie just along the belt line so they aren't easily accessed even while standing. I doubt anything would ever fall out of them but weird how they just feel odd... my overall choice are the tru spec cuz they have the added pocket in the cargo pockets that propper doesn't...don't know  about the othe r brands though wouldn't mind finding out.
