Anybody know where I can get one of these?  An additional complication is that I have a big mellon so any first hand experience with hats that fit a 7 3/4" head size would be appreciated.

think just under 7 1/2 here.. usually don't were them.. still has some adjustment along w/ the streching band so it shouldn't be a prob..

7 3.4.....  That would be me also.      
Crye hat is the only one that doesn't look stupid on me.  Call TacTailor and ask for it.  It is not on the website.  I have two of them and love them to death.

HSGI, yeah... love the stuff.... except the hat did not fit well.  It sat on the top of my head, like a yam aka (SP?) with a brim and velcro.

LOL...that's the same phrase I use for pinhead hats that don't fit my melon!

Well you should try the HSGI XL (Pumpkin Head) Hats..
Fit a big head well..

I have the HSGI in MC and the SKD version in CB and both fit me great. 7 1/4 here and the elastic on the back is adjustable so they should fit most anyone. The SKD hat, IIRC is the HSGI without the logo and flag embroidery in the sides.
