I have a Colt 6933(11.5 inch SBR) I am waiting to receive the paperwork back on. I also have a RRA 10.5 inch AR pistol. When i receive the paperwork back for the 6933 is it legal to switch those uppers around if I was inclined to do so? Just wondering about the legality of this. I have searched some but cant find what I am looking for.

Thanks in advance,
JD

ETA: I think I found my answers in another part of the forum. Thanks.

Colt 6933 appears to be a Short Barrel Rifle.....  thus it can "sport" a barrel shorter than 16" lawfully.....  swap the upper if that is what you want to do.. it is not a permanent change, nothing to worry about.

Thanks. I am not looking to switch the uppers permanently, just if I felt like switching to the 10.5 inch RRA upper, which is an A2 style instead of using whatever configuration I end up with on the 6933 upper I wanted to make sure it was ok to do that for an afternoon of shooting. I would think it would be ok, but there are lots of subtle things in the law and I dont want to break any of them. Would it be ok to get another short upper, perhaps a 7.5 inch, and keep it around as long as I dont have any extra lowers around since I will have both a pistol lower and an SBR lower?

Thanks guys.

Just make sure you don't put an upper on the pistol that has a vertical foregrip, b/c it would then become an AOW.

General consensus is that you would be ok there.  If you also had an AR that was Not registered as an SBR, then is becomes a little sketchy.
