About a month ago I went to Dick's to buy a Mossberg 930SPX. I had my pics on my phone on how the barrel and front sight should look. I had a small metal ruler so I could check for a canted front sight. The one on the display rack checked out, so I told them I would take it. He went back and said he couldn't find the box but they had another in a box in back. I said I would need to look it over. The one in the box had a canted front sight. When I showed the counter guy he was quite surprised. He said he would look again for the box of the first SPX. He finally did find the box. 4473 and then off to pay for it.

I had a coupon for $10 off, but the manager accidentally rung it up as 10% off. I told him something was wrong. He said, "It's your lucky day. Besides, I know we'll get the money back as I see you here all the time!". So I got $62 knocked off the price. Sweet!

I finally got a chance to shoot it today. I did not clean it. This was shot straight out of the box.

I started off with some skeet loads. No problem. I did maybe (2) mag loads worth to get a feel for this shotgun.

Then slugs. No problem.

Then nothing but junk yardsale reloads. No problem except for a (1) FTE on a reloaded older paper shell.

I put about (75) rounds through it. My shoulder is killing me. I should have worn something more than a t-shirt.

I didn't have enough time to sight it it, but at 25 yards it hit at point of aim. So I can't wait to see how this does farther out.

I bought this due to the extensive review by M24shooter. I'd like to thank him for all the info he has provided on this shotgun.

I'm feeling pretty good about this one and can't wait to see how it does fully broken in!

I bought one off gunbroker new for $605 with the pistol grip about 3 months ago.  It is the best autoloader in short barrel I have ever owned.

m24shooter should be collecting royalties from Mossberg for all the 930SPX guns his reviews and posts have sold for them.

I love my 930spx. knock on wood, I have over 1000rds of everything from the lightest birdshot to 3" magnum buckshot with no failures. I can put slugs in a tiny 2" circle at 25 yards.  My load of choice hornady tap 8 pellet patters very tightly as well, literally a couple of inches at 25 yards.

I love my 930. It always puts a smile on my face when I shoot it.

If you haven't tried it yet you can load it up with 9 rds for a extra big grin:

What kid of mount is that for your flashlight?

And nice to hear some postive experiences with the 930SPX.

Its a 1st gen mod c but had to be modified to work on the spx. He has a 2nd gen mod c that might bolt right up on a 930 now shoot him a email to confirm. The mt mount should just bolt right up if the mod c doesn't. candewman is good people and he has excellent customer service.

my boss bought a spx and loves it too.

Thanks for the info!  Those mounts are awesome looking!  I am going to have to check into them.

I have a TLR-1 that needs to be attached to my 930!

CDM is a good guy.  His mounts are universally liked from what I've seen.
He's a regular on Shotgunworld, and I think he has an account here as well.

M24, can the TLR-1 be mounted close enough where you can operate it (effectively) by hand or is the remote switch a requirement?

FYI:  The new factory operating handle for the 930SPX is available to order.  I have one coming.

Part #19297 - $20.00

Will post pics when mine comes in.

It depends on how you hold the shotgun.  I tend to hold with my support hand farther back, so the remote was needed.  Some people shoot more opened up and can run the tail switch OK.  I'm not comfortable like that though.
There is a guy with a Magpul rail that he mounted to the front edge of his handguard so he can run it without the remote.
There are two forend rail replacements that will be coming out that will let you mount a TLR at the front edge of the rail and run the tail switch.
The problem you run into is that the farther back from the muzzle that you position the TLR the more shadow you get.

Didn't think of that.  Good point.

Yep that is why mine is just shy of the muzzle.

You've got yours right about where mine is.  Mine is just slightly farther aft.
The light on my SBS is right even with the muzzle too.

How many rounds can you put through before the residue covering the lens obscures the throw of the light that close to the muzzle?  I have mine nearly that far forward on my SPX, but haven't fired it with it attached yet...

I wipe the lens down after a days worth of shooting. Nothing major just wipe it off with a micro fiber cloth and it looks as good as new. I does definitely get some residue on it.

I got the new charging handle from Mossberg yesterday.

The handle portion is hollow so it isn't really heavy.  It appears to be blued.  I wish it had been parked instead.  That would be my only beef.

It's big and grippy and is much easier to work with by hand or with gloves.

Looks very nice indeed.  Can anyone do a side by side comp with the Nordic?  Thanks in advance.

Just bought one about 2hrs ago. Any mods I should add?

BTW did yours come with the rear site all the way forward or all the way back? Mine is all the way forward but I'm thinking of moving it.

Before you even consider any mods, take it out and shoot it to make sure it performs well.

After that...  there are plenty of things you can add or replace (for example):

Charging handle
Mag tube follower
Side Saddle
Sling
Flashlight of some sort

You can mount the rear sight where ever you like on the rail.  I prefer mine to the rear and that is the "typically" the way I see it on others.
