I don't know much about it, but for $650 it seemed like a pretty good deal.  On the receiver are the markings:

FN FAL  .308 CAL.  F.A.C. of AMERICA, INC  FRIDLEY, MN
D.C. INDUSTRIES, INC ST. PAUL, MN           NO. 20xxxx

Is that good?

PICS: (note, there is NO rust on this gun, my camera made some of the "wear" spots look brown in these pics)

Looks like a DCI reciever with a Brazilian parts kit, if it works you did good.

What Disco said.
If the bore is nice you got a deal. DCI receivers are tops.
Something weird about the rear sight though. Leans like it's put together backwards but it's not. Strange.

does the rear sight fold? if it does you have an inch rear sight and need a metric..

Yes, it folds down forward.  What does this effect? Being an inch on a metric gun?

Hey I just learned something!!! Cool!

Since the sight is inch it is the wrong heigth for the front and the gun will shoot way high no matter how low you set it. You'll run out of ramp and front sight threads before it comes on zero.

I think that's right.

yep...well...they wont match up...the rear sight is taller than the front...

Some of the folks on FALfiles seem to think that since the lower came from the Rhodesian war, the original owner may have used the inch rear sight on purpose?  Interesting to me to think that this lower on my FAL saw combat in the bush war over there!

If the rear sight is worn to approximately the same as the rest of the receiver, it's pretty safe to assume that the Rhodesians did indeed add it. They used parts from wherever they could scrounge them. Lose the bipod.

You don't like my bipod?

I like the hide away bi-pod & plan on leaving mine intact.
Unlike my beloved M-14 & it's bi-pod that looks more like an afterthought & can mar the stock...

Dan Coonan Type I receiver (which they don"t produce any longer) on a decent looking metric parts kit.  Probably a homebuild, but as long as it shoots you paid a good price for it.  Even if it has some problems running, they are usually easy to get going. Congrats

With my busy schedule I haven't been able to shoot her yet, but I hope to this weekend.  I will let you all know how she runs.
