I have owned a fairly wide variety of firearms throught the years, but this is my first SIG product. I want to SBR it soon as it seems nearly useless as it is. The thing just begs for a stamp and I feel that it would be a travesty to deny the little weapon. The thing feels heavier than my 12.5" AR with an optic, but I like it. It seems well made, but the mag release is way out there compared to what I am used to. Is there an available mag release button that extends rearward a bit? I have looked around a little and it seems like coloradogunsales is the only company that really has anything for these weapons. Their prices scream buttsex. Any other sources for parts? I have the factory SIG red dot and was wondering what size the dot is. At a quick glance, t looks to be 4 MOA or larger. Correct?

Thank you. I have been curious about these for a long time and I can't wait to get it moving in a more useful direction.

This rail looks like it is extremely heavy. Are the polymer handguards much lighter? They look quite beefy as well. I'm trying to figure out if I can shed a little weight by losing this rail system.

According to their website the classic is 6.4oz. lighter than the SWAT. So the rail does add some weight.
I got my P556 Swat out of lay-a-way last week. I'm planning on SBRing it, too.
What stock are you thinking about using? I think I might go with the Magpul UBR.
I have bought some magpul magazines and a DPMS Muzzle Brake (Levang Linear) so far.
But I haven't had time to take it to the range, yet.

When my Form 1 is approved, I will probably just use a spare EMOD until I find a good deal on a used UBR. I think the UBR will look nice and balance the rifle out a little.

I have a 522. I think the folding stock on it will fit the P556.
I think by using it the gun will be a little front heavy. Can't try it until I get a tax stamp.
But the UBR looks really cool on the P556. Plus you can add a little weight to the UBR to balance it out, if you need to.

I got a 556P(swat model) that I SBR'd and I am using a A1 stock on it right now and it has a decent balance too it.

Cool!  Now, lets see a 300 round test with this one

If you haven't, check out Colorado Gun Sales for parts and what not.
