The standard tool has 3 or 4 notches in it. Because this one doesn't have at least two extra notches it won't fit the recessed bolt face. Check yours. I'll bet it has more notches. If not can you post pics of how it works. This is the first M/N bolt tool I've gotten. I've purchase 3 rifles and none of them have come with the bolt tool.

Ohhh...I gotcha' now. Thanks Lymie! ETA..You don't know what the specs are for protrusion are do you? Only thing I could find was one notch was marked 75 and the other 95. But 75, or 95, of what? I've calipers so I can use the depth gauge there to check it with. |
Bingo. I have one of these and three or four of the regular ones. The firing pin should be between 75 and 95. That is, it should touch the 75 notch, and not touch the 95 notch. Got it? |

Thanks guys. I'm learning more and that's always a good thing. ETA: Much-a-do about nothing. The measurement evidently is in inches. I decided to check my two M91/30s. A '32 Tula hex and a '40 Izhevsk round. They were already cleaned up when I got them. The Tula measures 0.072" and the Izzy 0.095". I had put my M44 back together with 0.126"! Hmmmm.....and the sun is setting. ![]()
