I am looking to purchase my first suppressor at the end of this week, and need a little help trying to make my decision. I am going to be using it on a 5.56 16 inch mid length WOA barrel. I currently do not own any calibers larger than the 5.56 that I would consider putting the can on, but that could always change.
Would you guys recommend going with a 5.56 can or a 7.62? If I go 5.56 I was thinking about the YHM SS Phantom QD. At 20 oz, it is not exactly light, but not near as large and heavy as the Phantom 7.62. All in all seems like a great first can for under 600$$? However, if I want to expand to larger calibers I think I would prefer to buy a titanium 7.62, so I can still save on the weight. In that case for a QD capable can I only have two choices, YHM Titanium phantom at 900$$ or a Gemtech at 1200$$ . I keep thinking that I should spend the money and get the best option for the long term, but then again I sure would like to start low and work my way up. I am just worried that I will kick myself in six months for not spending the extra few hundred dollars on the bigger can.
What say you?? |

I got an AAC 762-SD from Major Malfunction for less than both of the prices you mentioned. The Ti models may be lighter but not worth the extra cost. (To me) I might pick up a YHM can later down the road just to run it hard and use the AAC for showing off. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
