Yes I saw that one load listed although I do not know if it was a boat tail design or if it even matters. I would imagine that it would as pressures would be different wouldn.t they?
What I am looking for is more of the MIN/MAX loads I could SAFELY put through my rifle. And Yes I Am A NOOB Reloader. |

This is a common problem; we have components on hand, but they don't precisely match those in the load manuals we have.
We're going to build boolits, so what how do we handle this dillema? Simple, follow the "10% down" rule. What that means is that you will make a start load that is 10% below the maximum charge weight listed in the information you have. Sometimes the load data will give a warning about reducing a charge weight below a certain number, but this is not common. However, H110 is one to watch when loading pistol cartridges. I have the new Hornady manual at hand here at home. The load data for 55 grain bullets in .223 Remington lumps 5 different bullets in the same table. This is the data for Reloder 10-X data in .223 Remington with 55 grain bullets: minimum charge weight: 19.8 grains for 2800 fps maximum charge weight: 22.2 grains for 3100 fps I recommend the 7th Edition Hornady manual. You should buy at least one or two up to date manuals, and when you run across an older manual that is priced for a couple of bucks, pick those up, too. You can't rely on just the free pamphlets from the powder companies, they just don't have all the information available, let alone needed. |
