I need a large gun safe. In size, something like a Liberty Franklin 50. Would this be a good choice in this size range? Is a Liberty Lincoln 50 worth the extra +/- $500? Are there any other brands/models that would be a better value (less money for same quality or same money for better quality/features?

I have a Liberty Franklin 50 and really love it. I have other safes, but it is my largest. It is in a corner of my playroom (exterior corner walls) and bolted directly to the concrete slab foundation beneath it.

It's admittedly overstuffed in this pic (I've bought another new safe since, and rearranged older ones), but this should give you an idea of how much it can hold if it has too, even using the OEM interior pieces...

ETA: FWIW, I paid $2095 for it in August 2009, if that helps you in any way.  I got a Patriot 45 for $1000 even several months later.

I also have the Liberty Franklin 50 and have been very pleased.  I paid a little more than HardShell if he included installation in his cost.

Mine was around 2400 and change with the install and that was about 6 months ago.

I transported and installed it myself, so $2095 was my out-the-door price from a large local gun/outdoors store.

I love my Franklin 50.  And the door organizer actually works really well.  There are bigger and better out there, but for the money, I think it is a good deal.

Although the Sturdy is heavier steel, you'll find that is is much more expensive than the Franklin for the equivelent size safe with fire protection.  Also, the interior of the Franklin is more versatile considering the storage on the door.  Also, Sturdy only gets it to the curb.  Liberty's delivery service is fantastic and they will get it bolted in place, upstairs, downstairs or whatever for a cheap price compared to bringing in your own mover.
