Ok so I just finished up a 10.5" SBR with a YHM Phantom can, and I want to load up some subsonic .223 to make it super quiet. I also want the weapon to cycle.
From what I know so far, using a heavier grain bullet will make the rifle more likely to cycle with such a low muzzle velocity. I also found that using slower burning powders seems the way to go. I have a bunch of 77gr Sierra Match HPBT that I'd like to try. So far I have found the following load data: From Hodgdon: 55 GR. HDY FMJ Clays 3.2grs >>> 1060 FPS 3,700 CUP And on a forum: HDY 75 HPBT S1250(Accurate) 4.5-gr >>> 1052-fps 22,100 PSI I also know you can buy this: Subsonic .223 100gr - cycles the weapon... http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=136315 Thanks! http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/6213/silencers1dj8.jpg |
