| Well I just got a promotion:) Good yes, better money, down side I have to travel more and my fiance will be home alone sometimes. Well the last few monthes I have tried to work with her on getting a firearm for the house that she feels comfortable shooting. I had a Kel-tec P-11, and she just didn't like the recoil and the trigger. So then I went to the bottom ringer my moms 22 berreta. Well she liked this, but had a tough time with the slide and this makes me worry about a possible jam or misfire. So I was thinking of a revolver. However I am not real confident of the 22 to stop an assailant. So then I thought of the 22 mag? Little more umph!! with out too much more recoil. Yet I haven't read any thing good about the 22 mag street value, so now I was thinking of maybe a 38. I worry though, because she didn't like the recoil on the 9, she probobly won't handle the 38 well. Anyone else have a real small statured woman? I need suggestions on what you all think of for a good defense gun with the small lady in mind. |
| For someone with not a lot of firearms training, stick to a small frame 38 spec revolver such a a J-frame Smith or clone. My wife (100lbs wringing wet)uses a snubby S&W model 36 (5 shot) to which I add a set of pachmayer K frame grips. Very comfortable to shoot with any 38 loads. They can stay loaded indefinitely and be ready at a moments notice. Shoots great with 125gr Rem Golden Sabers. |
