I have a primary safe with all my NFA items in it....... the safe is quite full and I am the only person who has the ability to access it. I'd like to get a second safe to put in the bedroom for a few home defense items along with some valuables my wife has. Doesn't need to be huge as there won't be a ton of items going into it. Figure 1-2 Rifles/shotguns, 2-3 pistols total along with some important paperwork, jewelry, etc. There's a small little shelving area in the bedroom I'd like to fit this into..... the opening has a door currently - which can be removed if I need the extra room for the safe. Opening WITH door 26.5" Wide 13" Deep 65" Tall Opening WITHOUT door 28" Wide 16" Deep 65" Tall Due to the nature of the items going into the safe, Fire protection is a must. I refuse to buy a sentry safe after getting into an older one with a hammer. |

If you don't have any luck finding a safe, Give the guys over at Sturdy safes a call they will custom make one for you. The only Issue that I see is with an area that small your going to loose allot of interior space to the fire liner. I think the depth of the factory safes maybe your limiting size unless you go custom, I did not see anything that would fit from browning or liberty.

I'm sure you've thought this through, but I have to ask: Why do want a safe for your HD weapons? Do you really want to be jacked on adrenalin, fumbling through a combination lock to get to the one thing that will save your life when the bad guy comes busting through your door? |
| I'm in the same situation. I've got a Fort Knox Guardian 6031 (shoulda bought a bigger one - I know) that is configured for 1/2 long guns 1/2 shelves for papers, valuables, and handguns. I'm about to inherit some more long guns from my grandfather. My plan is to configure the 6031 for 100% guns, and then buy a smaller 26X40 inch Fort Knox for those papers and small valuables, or maybe a smaller AMSEC... |

That depth is going to kill you- no way you'll get anything that can hold rifles into that space. Even if you could have it custom made- you're looking at maybe having 10" to work with after it's all done. Sturdy might be your only choice... but expect pricey and barely enough room to store your stuff.
How will you keep it bolted down? Something this small will be easy to walk away with. |

Big bolts into concrete will help..... the fact that it'll be surrounded by studs & in tightly fitting enclosed area should help as well. Looks like American Security and Guardall (Same company, right?) make a safe that'll fit pretty well May stick out a hair more then I like but will provide enough room. Now to convince the wife that we need this  |
