Picked this up for a spare part in the mid to late 80's for my 91. Just noticed it dosent have the rollers on the bolt. Tried google and bing but came up empty. It has HK  7170 stamped on the carrier and HK 3/74 on the bolt. Here is a pic:

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks, Joe

It's a G3 training carrier/bolt for use with plastic short range training ammo.

Will it allow an hk to cycle the training ammo?

Yep - a lot of guys are using them in their HK machine guns.

This may be a bad question, but just watching that video makes me wonder- any chance of the plastic melting in the chamber/barrel?

Will this function in a G3k?  Does it have a locking piece?  I figure it would not since it has no rollers, i.e no roller lock delay, and just would be direct blowback, and would function just fine.  Will these cause any barrel wear at all?  I would guess no since it is plastic on metal rifling.

Yep, no locking piece, just a straight blow-back design.

I've fired the practice bolt/carrier in a G3K, no problem, also shot a friends 51 (with shortened carrier of course).
