I recently became an owner of a rifle my mom had for years. When i broke it down for cleaning I noticed this problem (maybe) inside the chamber.
I've owned lever actions as a boy but don't recall ever seeing something like this. So here I am to ask the Experts :).
Is the gouge normal in the chamber wall? Looks like someone fooled with it to me but I could be wrong.
Eta sorry for the crappy iPhone pics

Is it a mid-90's model with the button safety? Some of those have some rough looking edges to them but thats how they left the factory.
