I've always been interested in Japanese swords, katana's to be specific. I'd like to pick up a decent, fairly in-expensive one that's reasonably well made and truly sharpened and that I don't have to worry about the handle coming off if I decide to swing it. I'm not intested in the cheesy flea market specials that cost $50. Somewhere in the $200 range. Anything you can tell me about what to look for, or look out for, or a vendor to steer me to would be appreciated. Rob |

As your budget won't allow a real Japanese made katana try this link: www.swordarmory.com/main_pics_pgs/es_armoury.htm Check out the "Practical" - I own a Practical Plus and it's a very good quality steel sword or better yet check out the Cold Steel Imperial Katana which they have on sale as I have two of CS jap style katanas they are quite robust and tough and come razor sharp. Last Legends are also quality swords as are the Paul Chens some of which will be close to your budget. I have a real Japanese Iaito which is just a practice sword which ran around $800 and real "made in Japan" shinkins run 3K up with the best ones over the 10K mark.... mike |
