I have a few questions regarding blank firing adapters. We've been modding Garands for local reenactors with adjustable non-visible plugs and I was wondering if any other reenactors would be interested - - as a product/service offered by Adco? I'd love to hear your thoughts. |

If you are trying to guage interest, you might try shooting an email to some of these organizations. WWII Reenacting organizations I would suspect there would be a lot of interest, but the key would be getting to question out to the right folks. |
I want to alk to someone who knows of me and my shops work to get my foot in the door. We can internally thread the barrel of a Garand or carbine, and supply 5 different sized plugs for shooting blanks, with the proper pressure to avoid damage to the receiver. If need be - we can totally refinish/repark/rebarrel/etc. the rifle as well. Contacting someone who never heard of ADCO will probably be hesitant to play along. You are correct, I am also testing the waters as to how many would be interested. The down side is, the gun as barreled is for blank firing only for all practical purposes - maybem I'll have to see how it shoots with internal threads? |

Try Dick Culvers' Garand site at http://www.jouster.com/cgi-bin/garand/garand.pl As well as the CMP Garand site at http://www.odcmp.org/new_forum/ And the Garand Collectors' Association at http://www.thegca.org/ I believe there may already be "blank adapters" available and I understand even VFW groupos are having a hard time finding Blank Ammo for ceremonial purposes....to there may not be a huge need for adapters if the ammo itself is impossible to find. Threading is pretty easy, however the bigger pain in the butt is making sure your aperture size matches the blanks you are using. That tends to be where most re-enactors fall off the wagon. The range of aperture sizes really can vary by more than five plugs though. We've found M1 rifles and carbines to be temperamental based on the blank, ambient weather conditions, strength of recoil spring and so on and so forth. Another big issue is the particular blanks that are being used. There is a big variety in blanks out there and using the same blank consistently is the key to getting a blank adapted firearm to work. Check here for a chart my unit put together on some blanks and aperture sizes. |
