[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Need help with powder selection

Well my local reloading store ran out of TAC today. I need a good ball powder to use in my 5.56 loads. i dont care if its IMR or WINCHESTER or What ever brand. I jest need another good powder to use. And something not to hard to find.

Lot of good choices.

Winchester 748, H335, Hodgdon BL-C2, and Accurate Arms 2230 are all very good performing ball powders in 223.

I use TAC, H335 and AA2230 and they all work just fine.

AA2230 or AA2460 are good choices, I use AA2460 when I cant find AA2230

I have had bettr luck wih 2230 than H335 or W748. IT is my perferred ball powder.

You didn't state what bullet weight you'll be loading. WIN 748 would be a good alternate for most weights of 5.56. If you really like TAC Widner's had it in stock earlier this week. Order 8 pounds, it'll lower your unit cost.
