Ok...(flame suit on) I have used the search feature but have not been able to find the answer to this question. I am currently awaiting on my form 1 to return and am going to be converting my 16 in stag upper to a 10.5 inch barrel. What I am trying to figure out is what is the best route to take as far as the conversion; a barrel cut or a total new barrel? Right now my current load (issued ammo from dept) is 55gr jhp I run a 1/9 twist. So, can someone tell me some things to plan on needing besides just the barrel and things to look for such as gas port sizing and new parts. Also if anyone has had any experience with ar15barrels.com what was the turn time and are you satisfied with the quality of work?

I'd strive for a 1/7 twist barrel for a shorty.

That way you can make up some of the velocity loss by using some of the premium 70+ grain offerings.
