OK, replaced the BW extractor, extractor spring and ejector with factory HK parts. Still having ejection problems. The gun will be running fine and sailing the spent brass about 10-15 feet away and then every one out of 5 or six it will just "lob" barely out of the receiver and land on the ground or on the bench next to me. Put a friends HK94 trigger pack in it and it runs fine. Anyone have any idea what may be causing this? I have filed the bottom rear of the extractor down so that it will "raise" higher when ejecting and it seems to work a little better, but still not right. Thanks |

what kind of ammo are you using? I have found that my bw89 has the same problem with winchester white box but when I use good personal defense type loads it works fine. I can even tll a slight difference in the report on the rounds that jam sometimes. Anyway try some higher quality or hotter loads (no+p+!). 70ss396 |

How is the fit of the trigger pack to the receiver? any vertical slop at all ? If the trigger pack is loose it can cause similar issues. By putting someone elses trigger pack in and fixing the issue, it seems to indicate that the pack may not be fitted correctly. If loose see if inserting shims between receiver ledge and trigger pack tightens it up. My 94 had similar issues, shimming fixed it right up |
Ditto, Grab the front of the rifle with one hand, and the grip with the other and try to wiggle the front of the pack on the shelf up and down. If you find that you can pull down on the front of the pack, use a shim or two (velcro works on the receiver shelf) to shim the front of the pack tight against the receiver. Note: when the front of the pack slips down away from the receiver, the ejector does not make contact with the back of the case, and the spent case is not knocked off the face of the bolt during the reward movement. |

OK did a little work on the ejector and it is running better, but still not ejecting consistently, meaning that it's slinging brass all over the place. The lower to upper fit is very tight with no wobble at all. Where are you saying that the shims should go? Thanks |
Either the receiver shelf if the grip housing is loose on the receiver, or on the bottom/front of the trigger pack it's self if the trigger pack is loose in the grip housing (between the pack and the grip housing). Bottom line is to pull back on the charging handle and see as the carrier comes back, the ejector is cam'd upwards into the slot in the bolt face. If the pack or housing is loose/can slip downward, then it allows the pack to slip down, and decrease the angle that the ejector is cam'd upwards. When this happens, then the ejector misses the back of the case, and the ejection is sparatic. |
So I would need to put some sort of shim under the front of the trigger pack between it and the lower receiver? |

I'm having a similar problem. My BW will run fine, then have a a FTE where the case never exits the port. This in turn causes a FTF or a partial feed. The case that fails to eject has DEEP flute marks on one side, to where the mouth of the case is almost cut through. This tends to start after about 100 rounds of pretty fast firing, then happens once or twice per mag. I haven't replaced the spring or ejector yet. It does have the gold spring. Would it be worth the effort and cost to send it back to Bobcat for tuning? There is a lifetime warranty, after all. |
Cpt Kirks-- I have the same exact problem with my BW5. I am thinking about swapping out the ejector and spring with HK parts as the first fix, as the trigger pack is quite solid. Have you tried several different type of ammo? Sounds simple, but the FTE problem occurs less with the higher grain ammo in mine. Still I'd like to improve the situation as well. |
HMC, I've already swapped out the extractor, extractor spring, and ejector rod with factory HK parts on my BW and it runs a little better, but still having ejection problems, good luck |
