I am in the process of selling a handgun to a friend, and would like some suggestions for what to write on a bill of sale.. Thank you p.s. Also posted in legal |
| Just write the price paid, make, modle and serial number and sign it for him. On a personal note I think its shitty if you have a so called "friend" who insists you make out a receipt so you cant claim the gun was stolen and try to get it back. I mean that is THE ONLY reason he would want a receipt since there is no obligation to have any record of the transaction. Id get a new friend. I have met strangers in parking lots I only met online and sold them handguns for cash and not had them ask for a damned receipt. Sheesh. |

You're smart to get a signed receipt if the gun you're selling has paper on it with your name involved. Should that gun ever get stolen & used in a crime you have a deflection from someone saying you sold it to a gangbanger or the like. OTOH, if you have no paper connection to a firearm then I wouldn't sweat it too much. |
